What Materialise 1M Footscan Measures

Footscan technology supports clinical gait, movement and pressure analysis. A 1 metre pressure plate can record how pressure moves under the foot during standing and walking, helping the clinician review load pattern, timing, centre-of-pressure movement and areas of high pressure.

  • Static and dynamic pressure review
  • Walking pattern and gait observation support
  • Pressure points that may need cushioning or offloading
  • Digital data to support orthotic insole planning

About PHITS 3D Printed Insoles

PHITS insoles are custom 3D printed orthotic insoles designed from dynamic Footscan data. Instead of relying only on foot shape, the design can consider how the foot behaves during movement, so support zones can be planned for real walking needs.

  • Custom design from scan and gait data
  • Targeted support and pressure redistribution
  • Slim, lightweight orthotic insole option
  • Useful for daily footwear, sports footwear and sensitive feet when suitable

Who May Need Footscan and Custom Insoles?

Common concerns

Flat feet, high arches, heel pain, plantar fasciitis symptoms, forefoot pressure, knee or ankle alignment concerns, sports discomfort, shoe-fit problems and long standing hours.

Diabetic and sensitive feet

Patients with diabetes, reduced sensation, pressure marks or wound-risk history should use insoles only after proper clinical review and medical guidance where needed.

Insoles are recommended after assessment. They are not a replacement for diagnosis, wound care, surgery advice, diabetes management or medical treatment from your doctor.

Prescription and Appointment Guidance

Bring a prescription if you have one

Please bring any doctor prescription, diagnosis note, X-ray, MRI, diabetes report, wound-care note, surgery discharge summary or previous insole/orthotic details. This helps us match the assessment with your medical requirement.

When a prescription is important

A prescription or doctor referral is strongly preferred for diabetic foot risk, post-surgery care, neurological conditions, severe deformity, active pain, wounds, ulcers, children, or insurance/reimbursement documentation.

If you do not have a prescription

You can still book a footscan consultation for comfort, footwear and pressure review. If the finding needs medical diagnosis, we will advise you to consult the right doctor before final orthotic planning.

What to bring

Bring your regular shoes, sports shoes if relevant, old insoles, prescription, reports and a short note about your symptoms, walking time, work routine and activity goals.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need a doctor’s prescription for footscan?

A prescription is helpful and may be required for medical reimbursement, diabetic foot risk, post-surgery cases, severe pain, wounds, neurological conditions or complex deformity. For general comfort and footwear review, you can book an assessment and we will advise if a doctor review is needed.

What is the difference between regular insoles and PHITS insoles?

Regular insoles are often selected by size or general support type. PHITS insoles are custom 3D printed orthotics designed from dynamic Footscan data, so pressure and movement information can guide the support design.

How long does a footscan appointment take?

Most appointments include history, footwear review, scan, gait observation and discussion. Timing depends on the case and whether prescription or diabetic-foot review is needed.

Can diabetic patients use custom insoles?

Diabetic patients need careful clinical review, especially if there is numbness, callus, pressure marks, wounds or ulcer history. Insoles should be planned with medical guidance and regular follow-up.
